“THE PRESIDENTIAL AWARD”

Nominees for the “Presidential Award,” which is primarily based on extraordinary service to the association, profession and continent (on the basis of ASRF initiatives), must meet the following requirements:

1. Eligibility: Must be members of the African Studies and Research Forum (ASRF).

2. Evidence: Honorees will be selected on the basis of evidence of extraordinary service in the following areas: a) service to the African Studies and Research Forum and to the profession b) service to Africa and/or the African Diaspora through the goals of the various ASRF initiatives including Support for members professional development, The Partnerships with Africa Initiative, Collaboration with African Communities, Universities and Research Institutes, or Summer Institutes for African researchers etc. The aforementioned service must have been rendered during the previous five years, prior to the nomination for the award.

The Nomination Process: The honoree for this award is directly and solely selected by the President of the African Studies and Research Forum. However, ASRF members may choose to suggest nominations to the President for the award.

The Selection of the Recipient or Recipients: The president of the ASRF will choose the recipient or recipients of the Presidential Award.
