“THE PRESIDENTIAL AWARD”
Nominees for the “Presidential Award,” which is primarily based on service, must meet the following requirements:
1. Eligibility: May be members or non-members of the African Studies and Research Forum (ASRF).
2. Evidence: Nominees for the award must demonstrate evidence of service in the following areas: a)service to the African Studies and Research Forum; b)service to Africa; c) service to the African Diaspora; and d)the mentoring of young African scholars based both on the African Continent and in the African Diaspora. The aforementioned service must have been rendered over the previous five years, prior to the nomination for the award.
The Nomination Process: Members of the African Studies and Research Forum (ASRF) may either nominate themselves or other members of the organization for the award.
The Selection of the Recipient or Recipients: After reviewing the nominations for the award, the Standing Committee on Awards will choose the recipient or recipients. Thereafter, the list of the recipient or recipients shall be submitted to the President of the ASRF.
