Dear Members of the African Studies and Research Forum, Paper Presenters and Other Participants in the 24th Annual Conference of the ASRF.
Warm greetings. I trust that you are staying safe, amid the growing concerns about the corona virus pandemic. I am writing to inform you that the Executive Committee of the African Studies and Research Forum has decided to postpone the 24th Annual Conference of the ASRF, which was scheduled to be held in Cape Coast, Ghana, from March 26-28, 2020. The decision was based on the safety concerns for conference participants that are inherent in the corona virus pandemic.. In fact, the overwhelming majority of the conference participants, as well as the members of the ASRF suggested in the recent survey that was conducted that the conference should be postponed. Moving forward, our plan is to reschedule the conference sometime this year in Cape Coast, Ghana, when the conditions concerning the pandemic have substantially improved. At that time, we will inform you. Meanwhile, we are fully aware that some of us have already made travel arrangements. But, we all can understand the imperative for postponing the conference. Hopefully, the airlines will be willing to make changes to our respective tickets(for those of us, who have already purchased our tickets). In addition, for those who have already registered, your accounts will be credited for the rescheduled conference.
Finally, it is our ardent hope that we all will remain safe by taking the necessary precaution. Hopefully, we will be back with you soon with information about the new date for the 24th Annual Conference of the ASRF.
Warmly,
George Kieh
President, African Studies and Research Forum (ASRF)
